Making a sales invoice in billinginfo for a demo kirana shop, with HSN codes, GST and the total

What it does

  • Tax invoices that follow the rules

Your GSTIN, the buyer’s GSTIN, invoice number and date, HSN or SAC per line, taxable value and tax by rate, place of supply and a signature: the fields a tax invoice needs, filled from your settings.

  • Intra-state or inter-state, decided for you

When the buyer is in your state the tax splits into CGST and SGST; when the place of supply is another state it becomes IGST. You never pick it by hand.

  • Every kind of document

Sales invoices, bills of supply, quotations, proforma invoices, delivery challans, credit and debit notes, purchase orders, and sales and purchase returns, each with its own number series.

  • Discounts, charges and round-off

Line discounts in % or ₹, extra charges such as freight or packing, cess, TDS and TCS, and round-off, all calculated in exact decimals.

  • Print or share at once

A4 and A5 PDFs, 58 mm and 80 mm thermal receipts, or a link the customer opens in any browser. Add your logo, signature, bank details and UPI QR.

  • Returns-ready data

Every bill feeds GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3B reports on the paid plans, with B2B, B2C, credit notes and the HSN summary already grouped.

  • GSTIN autofill

Type a party’s GSTIN and the registered name, address and state fill in (paid plans). The GSTIN’s format and check digit are validated before saving.

  • Works when the network doesn’t

Bills are saved on the phone first, so the counter never stops. They back up and sync to the web app when you are online.

What GST billing software should do for you

A GST bill is more than a total. The law asks for particular details on each tax invoice, and your returns are built from the same numbers. Good billing software takes those rules off your mind: it fills the fixed details from your settings, chooses the right tax type, rounds each figure the same way every time, and files nothing away that you will have to retype later.

When you compare options, check four things. Does it work on the phone you already have, without a computer? Does it keep working when the internet drops? Can your accountant get the GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B figures without asking you for every bill? And is the price fair for the number of bills you make? billinginfo is free for up to 15 sales invoices a month, and the paid plans start at ₹199 a month before GST.

A worked example

A trader in Pune sells 10 bags of rice at ₹520 (5% GST) and 3 packs of detergent at ₹118 (18% GST) to a shop in Pune. The taxable value is ₹5,200 + ₹354 = ₹5,554. billinginfo shows CGST 2.5% and SGST 2.5% on ₹5,200 (₹130 each) and CGST 9% and SGST 9% on ₹354 (₹31.86 each), a total of ₹5,877.72, rounded to ₹5,878 with a round-off line.

If the same bill goes to a shop in Indore, the place of supply is Madhya Pradesh, so the same amounts appear as IGST 5% and IGST 18% instead. Nothing else on the bill changes, and the invoice lands in the right section of your GSTR-1 report.

What it does not do

billinginfo prepares your GST reports; it does not file returns on the GST portal for you. You or your accountant upload or enter them. e-Invoicing (IRN) is not available yet; e-Way Bills are, on the Plus, Pro and Max plans.

Is billinginfo GST compliant?

It prints the details a GST tax invoice needs (CGST Rules, Rule 46) and works out CGST, SGST, IGST and cess from your items and the place of supply. You remain responsible for entering correct rates and HSN codes; the built-in HSN list suggests current rates.

Can I make bills without GST?

Yes. Businesses that are not registered, or under the composition scheme, can make a bill of supply instead of a tax invoice.

Can I change the invoice number series?

Yes. Each document type has its own prefix and starting number in invoice settings.

How much does it cost?

Free for 15 sales invoices a month. Plus is ₹199 a month, Pro ₹349 and Max ₹499 (before GST), with yearly plans that cost less. See pricing.
