A demo jewellery tax invoice in the billinginfo web app with gross, less and net weight, wastage, rate, making, stones and HUID on each line

What it does

  • Daily rate board

Rates per gram for gold 24K, 22K, 18K and 14K, silver 999 and 925 and platinum, with the rate history.

  • Pricing by weight

Gross weight, less weight for stones, net weight, wastage %, purity and HUID on every piece.

  • Making charges three ways

Per gram, as a percentage of metal value, or a flat amount, plus stone and other charges.

  • Repriced as you bill

Change the weight or the rate on the bill and the line is priced again. GST at 3% fills in; every rate stays editable.

  • Old gold exchange

Weigh the old gold, set a melting or purity deduction, and its value comes off the bill as a separate line, kept apart from cash and bank.

  • Weight stock and HUID search

Stock by metal and purity in pieces, gross, net and fine weight; search a HUID to find the piece and its bill.

  • Thermal and A4

Every weight detail prints on A4 invoice themes and on thermal receipts.

What makes jewellery billing different

In most shops a product has a price. In a jewellery shop, a piece has a weight and a purity, and its price is worked out again every day from the metal rate, then adjusted for wastage, making and stones. A billing app that only stores a price per item forces you to recalculate by hand and type the result, which is slow and easy to get wrong in front of a customer.

Jewellery software should therefore start from weight. In billinginfo the rate board drives the price, each line shows how the price was reached, and old gold exchange is a part of the bill rather than a separate slip. The Jewellery module is on the Plus, Pro and Max plans, on the phone and the web app; see the jewellery page for a demo shop.

A worked example

The 22K rate is set at the morning rate per gram. A customer picks a chain of 10.250 g gross with 0.250 g of stones, so the net weight is 10.000 g. With 8% wastage and making at a rate per gram, the line shows the metal value, the making and the stone charge, and 3% GST on the total. The customer brings old gold of 6 g at 22K; you set a 2% melting deduction and its value is taken off the bill as “Less: Old gold exchange”. The customer pays the net amount by UPI.

Checks before you choose

Ask whether the software keeps a rate history (for disputes), whether it prints HUID on the bill, how it records old gold so that your cash book is not inflated, and whether it can show stock in fine weight as well as pieces. Also check thermal printing if your counter uses a small printer.
